Specialist Heat Exchangers Ltd design and manufacture Air Cooled Heat Exchangers and bespoke Heat Transfer Equipment. Success is built on the very passionate and experienced design engineering team who ensure the customer’s process design and end user specifications are met. SHE has a unique capability to offer enhanced thermal designs balancing internal and external extended tube surface solutions that have been developed by SHE for over 50 years.
All SHE equipment is manufactured in the UK’s state-of-the-art factory to ensure quality and performance is the highest possible standard. SHE manufactures their own finned tube and tube inserts / turbulators and complete all manufacturing and testing of the heat exchanger assemblies in-house.
SHE are vastly experienced with the rigorous requirements of global oil and gas, petrochemical and energy specifications. SHE holds the ASME U stamp and designs & manufactures, when requested, to API661, API614 and API682, designing pressure parts to ASME VIII with welding to ASME IX.
History of SHE
1928 - Wire wound type tube invented, known as 'Still tube'
1968 - SHE Ltd established by Don Whyles
1976 - Freeman Road site opens
1990 - Auto cooling part of Clayton Dewandre purchased along with Outer Circle Road Factory Space
1996 - Regent and Pentagon Radiators along with TFL, Spiral tube, DAW Heat Transfer purchased under the umbrella company, Cooling Power Industries Ltd
Regent, Pentagon Radiators, Spiral Tube and DAW ceased trading under their respective names.
1997 - SHE Ltd and TFL taken out of private hands. Purchased by Granville Baird
2009 - SHE Ltd with TFL as part of the group, bought by RACO and added to the Dynamic Technologies group
2018 - SHE Ltd purchased from DTG by Ardian and HDT Automotive formed
At Specialist Heat Exchangers Ltd, we use leading edge software solutions for the mechanical design of heat exchangers, utilising major international design codes including ASME Section VIII Division 1 and EN 13445, and covering a range of materials.
We utilise efficient analysis tools that use powerful, cutting edge techniques to ensure the best evaluation of all design requirements and providing total design simulation for complete confidence.
To produce bespoke unique heat exhanger designs we have a wide variety of equipment available at Specialist Heat Exchangers. As well as our industry leading cooler tube manufacturing technology, we also have Plasma cutting, CNC machining, Shot blasting and Painting facilities among many others.
We have a skilled and experienced workforce, from time served Engineers to 6G coded welders.
We use SolidWorks to design our heat exchangers which allow us to visualise a finished solution before the manufacturing processes begin. Visit our 3D Design page to view some of our heat exchangers in 3D.
We also use HTRI Xchanger Suite to ensure that the thermal efficiency of all of our heat exchangers meets or exceeds our customers expectations.
